Open Office is vital - it is now the only office suite which people want. I 
agree with Chaks - Koffice is nice, I always preferred it to OOo for speed 
and general overall pleasant useage. However, Koffice does not have the same 
degree of support for MS office which - whether we like it or not - is the 
"industry standard". Why, I have no idea, but thats the way life is I guess!

Kat - I have commented on this abomination before ;)  It drags down a system 
in my view, having used it on Mandriva. I disabled it because it drove me 
mad. Rather similar to Knemo - which had a similar effect at pointlessly 
eating CPU cycles.

Java - doesn't bother me to be honest, although I know people do use it. 
Likewise flash. Not something I use and something which has been abused by 
advertisers all over the web.

Xgl - no comment. I have not used it.
