You'd think that if MS wanted us to do all those actions -- log out, log in
with the Shift key down, restart -- they'd build the installer to execute
these things.

I've used plenty of installers that can do most of these things.  Apple's
installers/updaters, when necessary, know how to download, restart, install,
and restart.

Why can't MS build their updater that way?
