Normally in Entourage 2004 when you rebuild, after it completes the rebuild the original database is stored in a folder named like this: Main [Backed up 1-21-2010 13.35] The fact that you see 'old database' indicates something went wrong during the rebuild. You can try moving the 'old database' to a new folder in the Identities folder and remove the word 'old'. Use Switch Identity and see if Entourage will open. Most likely it will ask to rebuild. Read this article about having enough space to rebuild. <http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/09/rebuilding_a_damaged_database_that_ exceeded_size_limit.html> It's possible EmailChemy will be able to recover those messages. The 'old database' needs to be in it's own Identity folder to select. > I >also use TimeMachine so there are copies of the Databases before the >crash. >However the means to restore them is proving elusive. Depending on how you made the Time Machine backups they could be corrupt. To restore from Time Machine, you need to either move any Identities with same name to another location or rename so the restore does not overwrite. Open Apple Help. Search "Restoring items backed up with Time Machine" Follow directions.
