Thanks for responding so quickly.  Could you please explain what is meant by
rebuild?  I have read elsewhere in trying to solve this problem that
dragging the files to the desktop will convert them to MBOX format so that
they can be imported.  My experience is that after they are copied to the
desktop they look just the same as before: their format does not change.
Please could you explain.  It would be so helpful to have step by step
instructions.
