I  thought Zen, including Soto, Rinzai and Obaku,  are part of the Mahayana
school of Buddhism and a direct outgrowth of the Chinese Chan, which was
brought to China by Bodhidharma, an Indian Buddhist monk.


What has led you to conclude the above?
