Is the statement of yours below  a self-evident-truth, or is it a
premise/assumption/belief/act_of_faith, or is it 'upaya' or 'skillful
means'?

Whatever be the case, augmentation of happiness in our lives and those
of others and diminution in the sufferings of ourselves and others would
most probably ensue.
