I've just found out through Bill giving you a response now. I have no idea how Christianity is in America as according to American movies there are many branches of Christianity over there. I can only talk about the one I know which is the Catholic one inherited in Spain for centuries. In the Catholic Church there are many branches and orders plus politics. Many narrow mind but in opposition also extremely open and sharp minds. There is already silence meditations and retreats in complete silence. In fact still remember as an eleven years old child to go with two of my School Mates to a a 5 days children retreat mostly in silence!. Wow, how difficult was that for us as children. And yet we had lots of fun sliding alternatively at night into the individual rooms from each others and chatting in a whisper. We felt so excited to do the forbidden thing of talking in secret at night when the monastery was all sleeping. However, there were also all the rest of rituals and practises such as mass, chanting of the rosary, sitting down on the bench silence meditation,.... Mayka
