If I say Hitler's holocaust victims, or Pol Pot's massacre are due to their own 
karma. That might be true, but meanwhile that is complete nonsense. As it only 
increases suffering of the listener.

I'd be more careful, putting words in the master's mouth, the "in others words" 
phrase, that you used. The master may have had a very clear picture of the 
fellow's situation, and responded naturally. We can't say! But we are trying to.

Inaction is not a lack of action. It may be the most compassionate response.

(Gee, I could have just saved myself a lot of ink). ;-)
