Anthony, Definitely part of just this old thing. This vision persists for many months even if you do not work very hard after awakening, and if you do, it never ends. It is a wonderful vision. Even in daytime, it's as if things are bathed in moonlight. Blacks are too deeply black. Light on things is liquid in appearance, as if everything is wetted. Shadows have a depth as never seen before. There are more dimensions added to the familiar three. The "Chiaroscuro" of things, of scenes, is enormously enhanced. Roses -- the flowers -- look astonishing, and ancient, yet fresh. The preaching of the Dharma by all things is evident, and eloquent. You can see in people where the ch'i is blocked: the stomach, the shoulders. Anyone wanting to be a healer can easily work on people most effectively, now.
It's an effect of samadhi, which of course can be maintained and deepened by continued practice. I'd say it is a side-effect, and not the "main-feature", but it comes with the territory (!) (our original human nature), and cannot be rejected, nor really understood. It is an effect that is alive and noted only when the soybean inside the forehead is awake and active, and when you can feel the soybean and see all things through it. Sit in zazen for 15 seconds, and everything becomes golden orange. Sit on a park-bench for 15 seconds, and, ...the same. Even in my noisy home-town of New York City. Sorry for this absurd direct language, which sounds metaphoric to some, but which is literal, you know. Name here is "Joe". ;-) --Joe --- In [email protected], Anthony Wu <wuasg@...> wrote: > Bill, > > Are those visions illusions, or part of 'just this'? > > Anthony ------------------------------------ Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading!
