This 'matter', is yet another layer added:

Snow, covering leaves
Sparkling in the moonlight
Reflecting darkness

This fixation on changing pointers is still fixation on finger. Many
fingers, one moon. Use a stick, or a piece of old dead root to point. No
matter.

'Root' is just another pointing finger.

Efforts to find the root of suffering, are rooted in groundless
delusion. Nothing else to find, but each must look for themselves.

Concealed by layers of thought,
Blanketed by 'spiritual' snow,
Beneath the fallen leaves of time,
Underlying earthly concerns,
There lies no 'root'
Nothing for one to attach to.
Seeing this,
Effortless
Self-severing
Cessation.
