ED, You have misunderstood me or I have not communicated well.
I assume in the attached post you are talking about all the techniques used in Zen Buddhism. They are not NECESSARY, but they certainly are HELPFUL to most people. They certainly were to me. It's the old 'finger pointing to the moon' thing. The finger may indeed help you find the moon. Then it's been very helpful. However, if you get fixated on the finger you quit searching for the moon. That's the danger in techniques.
