JM,
I've participated in transmission ceremonies, where teachers became confirmed
as teachers -- Dharma-successors -- by Roshis.
I've also been to tonsure ceremonies when Sheng Yen ordained people as monks
and nuns; some of these were Westerners.
Please go ahead and post your source for the transmission event; it would
interest me, and perhaps others here. Thanks!
