Hi Joe,
This personal witness is written by Mark Troxell, not me.
Thank you for your interest.

JM,
Wonderful! Yes, and I had read this write-up before. Well done!
I suspect that the transmission may have taken place on a long
meditation practice retreat, though, is that right? I mean instead of
in an office, or meeting room. Or perhaps it was at the Master's
interview room. In either case, you must have been in a very clear
state to receive it, and of course the Master sensed that clearly.
Interesting that you know the Zen Arts Community founded by John Loori
at Mt. Tremper, NY. John was a friend of mine. And that you know the
mountain-center of Eido Roshi: I knew his place in Manhattan, and sat
there only a couple of times. Nice tea-house on the second floor, and
very good practice, there. And the chanting of Namu Dai Bosa was very
clear and calm after several rounds of zazen and kinhin in the
evenings. Did you know Lou Nordstom?... another friend. Lou also
inscribed for me a copy of the book he edited, NAMU DAI BOSA -- A
TRANSMISSION OF ZEN TO AMERICA.
Eido Roshi very kindly put me in touch with his Carpenter
(stick-maker) about 20 years ago when I contacted teachers around the
world about pointers on stick-making that their sanghas may have to
share. This was very valuable to me. I can make them in various
styles, dimensions, and weights, because I had have this help, and can
see the sense of how they are used. I've served as Monitor, or Tanto,
on many Sesshin, and on Sheng Yen's Chan retreats.
Thanks for your write-up!
Is there more to tell us about your Dragonsgate practice-place?
Congratulations, establishing that; and best wishes!
