Merle,

Like I said, it's personal. Living in Wales at the time I experienced her
directly.

What's your excuse?

Mike

mike do not lecture me..you rave about thatcher ..okay you are in wales..so
you have labour..right..why are you so bothered with Thatcherism then?..good on
you stick to your guns..why did you let the english run amok in wales?..merle

Merle,

Please do not take the Lord's name in vain. You know I'll be upset. Anyway,
you're wrong. At least as far as Wales is concerned. Wales consistently
returns  predominantly Labour (they used to be for the working class back when
the coal-mining industry was strong in wales) or Welsh Nationalist
representatives. Overwhelmingly. The English predominantly return a higher
percentage of Tories. This (in Wales) is classic voting for class interests.
The Welsh voter, Joe 'Boyo' Blow-Jones knows exactly what's best for him - and
it ain't conservative. Thatcher (hoooooock, spit!) knew there were no votes for
her there and put in policies that smashed whole communities (mining) that were
deep-rooted in Wales. Fuck her. Hope her senility never makesus forget.

Mike

Fuck Churchill, too. Sent the troops in to smash and kill legitimate strikers
in Tonypandy (South wales). Wouldn't get that in leafy Wimbledon, would you?

Anyway, back to my breath..

murdoch have in manipulating the voters?
jesus we all know that "free" ain't what it was or is
do you honestly believe "joe blow" knows anything about politics?
he is mass fed with bullshit and he swallows it hook line and sinker
 get real
watch the american elections..you'll see the circus there
and australian federal election 2013... it will be just the same
 bullshit bullshit and more
 makes me cry
 merle

Merle,

>in england it was a free election

Exactly. I'm Welsh. Wales has never returned a Tory majority. Not once. As for
my knickers, I'll stop twisting them if you can lead by example.

thatcher was an evil woman..small mind, mean...but don't get your kickers in a
knot over her..remember she was voted in...and that's where the problem lies...
the "little people" they put her there... that's what is so very very
sad..manipulated and bamboozled..they vote for their own destruction...the
little people...they prop up the queen of england and all that hogwash... what
can one say?..
watch a doc on putin..what an evil man... he too is a power monger hell bent on
manipulating his own people..there the voting was rigged..in england it was a
free election... so you tell me why there are no governments in power around
the world that are govt for the people... all people... tiny pockets
exsist..however generally speaking the govt is about preserving the status
quo... and the folks at the top of the food chain at the TOP
 greed has no boundaries
and power mongering is the way of the world
 merle

Merle,

Well, it's not to be taken too literally, of course (I did warn you that my
metta meditation is a work in progress)..     But Thatcher destroyed working
class communities in the UK (especially Wales), sent my comrades to get killed
in the Falklands (I'm ex-British infantry) for political gain, supported
Pinochet and his evil regime, cut back heating allowances for old people which
resulted in many old people's deaths etc. She might not be the Anti-Christ but
she does a pretty good impression.

I do hope you do know I was talking about Thatcher!! And it's not "boring" -
it's accurate!

Mike (Yikes!)

 you are free to be
 who you are
 without the constraints
 of past ideas
 understandings
 and longings
returning to the original mind finally
 wonderful
take it easy as you breathe
 cheers the "dear old lady..."

Mel,

>are you telling me that you react to this dear old lady...

She's not a "dear old lady". In fact, she's not even human. She's the
Anti-Christ (See, I've been reading my Bible ; ) )

Ok, I may have been a bit harsh with Merle. Merle, if you're reading
this...well, I've gone over some of my words with you and perhaps I have made
an ass out of myself. Perhaps you've even reminded me of a past lesson related
to zazen. In zazen, we get taught that various thoughts come and go, and we
just let them pass...even if evangelism in any form as I see it happens to be
one of my personal demons. I shouldn't have reacted so quickly despite
whatever. My apologies

Mike, thanks for that, and for your patience online both here and at FB. But
Mikey....'dingdong the witch is dead??'....*gasp/laughter/grin*....are you
telling me that you react to this dear old lady the way a lot of Punjabis react
to Sonia Gandhi? It's ok folks, as Mike knows I'm a little bit cracked...*more
laughter*...cheers all!

Mel the purist

Mel,

That'd be me who was raised in an atheistic household. Actually, I wasn't
raised with any particular philosphy named 'atheisim' - it was just a general
apathy to things religious. I don't like the word 'atheist'. We don't have a
specific name for people who don't believe in astrology, so why have a name for
people who just don't see any evidence of a personal god. In the same way,
Christians (for example) are atheists in regard to Zeus or Appollo. I love
Merle's idea of being in nature as her church. I just take it one step back and
don't see the need to add anything to that walk in the forest. Was it Basho who
said, "No one walks this path this Autumn evening..."?

Mike

Ps, Don't mention Thatcher to me. I'm just waiting for that magic moment when I
can sing, "Ding Dong the witch is dead!" (My Loving-Kindness meditation is
still a work in progress..).
