Not sure what JM would say here, but jhanas and Buddha Nature are 2 different 
things altogether. It's the insight wisdom brought about by vipassana (seeing 
things as they really are) that manifests Buddha Nature. Vipassana in the 
jhanic state is helpful because the hindrances that stop us deeply meditating 
are temporarily quashed, but vipassana *without* being in the jhanic state is 
still possible. They're an aid, but they're not it.

How do you think what you call the state of 'Janan' compares with what zen 
literature calls 'Buddha Nature' (or Original Face, etc..)?
