Merle,

Was it an "attack" or?:

Criticism can be a way for one human
being to help another...This feedback is intended to
be helpful.

I can't speak for Joe, but I'm sure his intention wasn't an attack but a gentle
nudge towards showing what Zen isn't.

I understand Zen as the art of living from moment to moment with nothing extra
added (discursive thinking or conceptual overlays added to the moment). What is
Zen to you?

Mike

Merle,

Life occurs moment to fleeting moment. These moments flash by faster than
lightening and each moment brings change (impermanence). Thus there is no
enduring thing/I to be criticised. When you feel someone has criticised you -
what has actually been cricised: a passing emotion; a physical sensation; a
taste in your mouth; a faint smell of perfume; vibrations hitting your ears?
These are the things that make 'you' and have passed even as you hear each word
in the criticism. Smile!

Mike

give us criticism. This feedback is intended to

grow strong.
