Off-topic, but/and Howdy!:
I was bemused, some time ago -- but delighted! -- to learn that, in Special
Relativity, energy is NOT conserved (middle-Teenager).
For example -- and this is the instance by which I approached this:
Astronomical Redshifts (what ELSE!). A spectral-line starts out as BLUE; say,
Lyman-alpha of Hydrogen, and we see it as RED. Where's the lost energy?
Not lost. But not Conserved! ;-)
