Is this what someone earlier called cherry picking? How does this sound: "I think the Crusaders espoused and exploited Christianity; "Christianity" has nothing to be proud of in the Crusades, who came rather late to the party, IMO." and yet they are historically inseparable.
I'm just saying that the fictional Vulcan philosophy espoused by the creaters of Star Trek was one or meditation and nonviolence and that this rings true for me and my practice of "Zen". I feel a kinship to what Ram Das calls "Loving Compassion" for all life. I also meditate and feel that my meditation allows me to see things more as they are and not filtered or structured by my preconceptions, not completely, but more clearly than when I have not meditated for a while. In Chinese Ch'an, there are no Samurai. There are "K'ung Fu". ;-) --Joe / Guo-Xiang > William Rintala <brintala@...> wrote: > > Zen does not teach nonviolence though. > > As I recall the Japanese Samurai practiced Zen.
