Joe,

I never said that I thought everything should just stay as it is.  It won't.  
That's all part of impermanence.  And...I believe the urge of Merle and you and 
anyone else to 'make things better' is natural too.

What I bristle at is people trying to use labels such as 'unnatural' or 
'interfering with nature' as a reason to justify their environmental 
(especially if conservationist) agenda.

I look at beaches and see that I like sparsely populated beaches better than 
those littered with condos, but I don't label the condos as 'unnatural' nor 
their developers as 'interfering with nature'.

I just say I like the uncluttered beaches better.  They are more pleasing to 
me.  Why should I have to say more or try to justify that further?
