Joe, Shit. I wish *I* had that tape!
A much underrated album, methinks. What you said mirrors exactly what I think about Meddle in the sense that "Echoes" (side 2) is the signature tune that marked their departure from the older, Syd Barret psychedelic sound, to the Floyd sound we're more familiar with today. Mind you, I can listen to "Echoes" without weed and get just as stoned.. almost. ________________________________ From: Joe <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, 30 October 2012, 22:29 Subject: [Zen] Re: the story of the cloud Mike, Da Doctah!, doin' some Prescribin'! Merle, no worry, everyt'ing goin' be IRIE. BTW, I took part in a market research effort mounted by Columbia Records when "Animals" came out. I was on some kind of "list". The Company sent me an advance (!) copy of the record (Vinyl, or course), and asked me to listen to it and come to discuss it on the 27th floor of some building in NYC where I lived, in two weeks. I did so. About 30 of us raggedy freaks circled the conference table in the penthouse of this place. They generously handed out free Coca Colas. And they started their tape-recorder and got us all down on tape. We all had a lot to say about the record. Not one asshole mentioned drugs. *I* did. And I told them that I thought we had to wait for the "second side" of the record to hear some real, good, music. There were "sides", in those days, remember. ;-) Shit; I wish I had that TAPE, man. ;-) --Joe PS I think they paid us $20. US for showing up, CASH, at the session in the Penthouse. I blew it on Weed afterward, no doubt. > mike brown <uerusuboyo@...> wrote: > > Merle, > Otherwise, whap on some Floyd and smoke a cone and enjoy yourself! > > Sleep loose!
