Bill!, When I first began Ch'an practice with the teacher and sangha, *I* looked like Sasquatch.
Well, very long head-hair and seven-year-old, never-trimmed, full beard, anyway. It was the last dark hair I was ever going to have on those parts, and so I was keeping it. Sheng Yen said I looked like "Jesus". When I passed "Wu", Sheng Yen announced publicly at the long lunch tables that day where we all, including himself, were eating: "Christ has died". This was just after our ritually reciting the Mealtime Gatha, with hands in prayer-pose. What a card he was, my shihfu. --Joe > "Bill!" <BillSmart@...> wrote: > > Chris, > > That's certainly possible. There might be people still looking for Sasquatch > too.
