Yes, Edgar is right.

The platform sutra said, "Buddha dharma is in the secular world. Enlightenment to Buddhahood occurs in every day life."

In other words, only if we live in harmony with everyone and everything, seeing the truth in everything and everyone, then we are enlightened. If we continue to pick or choose, then our ego is in play. Thus Chan is ALL and ONE at the same time.

Of course, the other factor is whether the master your agree to is enlightened or not. If he is not enlighten, then he is just playing with your mind and not your heart.

After all, the only thing matters is heart to heart transmission. For a few hundred years, Buddha Heart Imprint was scarce...

You should really read and understand Dogen for a change.

He's saying what I say that you condemn, e.g. "It is an illusion to try to carry out our practice and enlightenment through ourselves, but to have practice and enlightenment through phenomena, that is enlightenment.
"
