Hi Edgar,
Thank you. If I may continue, the practice of Chan is all inclusive.
There is Chan in everything, form as well as formless, logical and
illogical, acceptable and unacceptable. Thus Chan is One and All.
When we are in sync, we are one with all the causes and effects,
including every word we say, every thought we manifest, and every action
we take, everything and everyone around us.
Thus debating with agreement or disagreement are mental exercises
satisfying only our mind, but not our heart. Heart is what matters in
life. Everything we truly seek belongs to heart, i.e. peace, happiness,
etc.
Enhance the sensitivity of our heart. Accept all as is. Surpass the
realm of desire, form and formlessness. Sync with the universal wisdom
through our heart is the key to enlightenment.
with palms together,

Hi and welcome back. I've missed your contributions to the group.
JMJM is the only actually practicing Zen teacher on the group. Those
who disagree with me and claim I don't understand and misrepresent Zen
should take note that JMJM agrees with me and says that what I've been
saying is in accord with Zen teaching....

Yes, Edgar is right.
The platform sutra said, "Buddha dharma is in the secular world.
Enlightenment to Buddhahood occurs in every day life."
In other words, only if we live in harmony with everyone and
everything, seeing the truth in everything and everyone, then we are
enlightened. If we continue to pick or choose, then our ego is in
play. Thus Chan is ALL and ONE at the same time.
Of course, the other factor is whether the master your agree to is
enlightened or not. If he is not enlighten, then he is just playing
with your mind and not your heart.
After all, the only thing matters is heart to heart transmission.
For a few hundred years, Buddha Heart Imprint was scarce...

Bill,
You should really read and understand Dogen for a change.
He's saying what I say that you condemn, e.g. "It is an illusion to
try to carry out our practice and enlightenment through ourselves,
but to have practice and enlightenment through phenomena, that is
enlightenment.
