A friend emailed me this:

There are two students who are following a meditation
course. Both are smokers so they decide to ask the
master if they may smoke during meditation. The day
after one is smoking and the other not. The second one

was wondering why he was forbidden to smoke. "What did
you ask?" the student who is allowed to smoke asked.
"May I smoke while I'm meditating?". "That's why. You
should have asked 'May I meditate while I'm smoking?'"
