I lived next door to the Salvation Army shelter and directly opposite the
City Men's Shelter on 3rd St in Manhattan for 3 years and met and talked to
many 'bums'. Most of them were fine people who were making the best of their
unfortunate situation (including their illness). -People who had lost
everything
through fire or their illness. I wonder how much of the fear you plainly
hold for individuals like these resides inside yourself and not with them.
Where
your hatred for them comes from I can't see at all.
As for the eightfold path you may like to reconsider your stance on
these teachings.
