In case you haven't figured it out, Zen, like all the other religions, is a lot of smoke and mirrors and relies on bullshit to pave over the rough spots on the road to Nirvana. Take a look at Pope Benedict XVI. The guy is 78, he has lusted for the job of Pope his whole life, and right on the cusp of death he gets it. Talk about grasping. As the former Pope's "Enforcer" he helped to further polarize Christians when their numbers are dropping by the millions. He helped to cover for pedophile priests. His view of the world is not inclusive. But he wants to be the Pope that "Unites All Christians" that are left. So that means they will throw a lot of money at the Eastern Orthodox Church to get them to re-join so that one crazy old man can feel like he succeeded as Pope. That is what religion is all about. Grasping, ambitious, power-hungry nuts who think that God talks to them. What do all religious people have in common? They want a special relationship with their God, and they think that their practice is bringing them closer to God, Truth, Nirvana, The Void, etc. If they did not have a greed for God, they would not work so hard at getting closer to God, and the more they work, the closer they think they are getting. But where is the proof that they are close to God? That is where the Zen dudes get stuck. They tell everyone they are the "real deal" and not the bullshit artists; but when it comes to explaining the trick, they usually shine you on and claim it is some kind of great mystical self-knowledge that you can only understand by crossing that road on your own. But if you say that you want to practice without a Sensei, they tell you it is bad and unhealthy. ------------------------ Yahoo!
