Aww, Jill -- I see enough Luke in ya' for you to count it as a success
story:)

As far as butting in -- I guess that's the point of this forum, or I'd
air my dirtly laundry with folks in private. I learn the most when
others air theirs, and people help out -- most of us have the same
issues I'm guessing, and with enough time, we can all be sitting in a
big pile of smelly undies... I think the metaphor has broken down, but
you get my point.

My difficulty is in why establish a routine? Without Yoda to command
me, I would be doing it for the wrong reasons. I think in time, I will
find it easy, and natural, and it won't be a matter of using an obscure
commitment to "follow-through" doing "what I vowed to do" even though
there's no "rational purpose", etc., but I'll find the time of day I'm
allowed to get away with sitting, and then the habit will lead the
rulemaking, rather than vice versa.

If only I came with a regiment tattooed to the inside of my eyelids, I
could let go the wheel and let the tattoo-man drive while I eat nachos
get drunk in the back seat.

at the risk of butting into a private conversation, one thing i've found
helpful is to define a schedule & when it's 'time to sit' - sit with no
questions. then when doing dishes - no questions about leaving for the
cushion... however, it's _always_ useful to practice
'dishes/driving/working' meditation (& i don't have to ponder whether
dishes are best done standing or squating ;-)

this made me smile,
& was actually the reason for posting -
very embarrassing - but when i first began sitting i imagined myself as
the 'luke skywalker' of the seated position...

sigh, 'i was so much older then, i'm younger than that now'
