From: "Rod Scholl" <I still think you have heard the point and haven't acknowledged it or are just missing it: > You can't give somebody Burger King and pretend it is Filet Mignon. That is the point.
I have not had an extensive experience like Genryu and others, but I have been to Temples in New York, Paris, Madrid, and Rome, and a sesshin with Joshu Sasaki in Miami. In Madrid and Paris, I met and practiced with senseis from the school of Taisen Deshimaru. Every where that I went, everyone that I practiced with was very nice and polite. Maybe they were all faking it. While I have no doubt that any teacher might tell somebody off, I think intelligent people need to distinguish between a good teacher and verbal abuse. I want to meet the Zen Masters that shed light, not darkness. You can sugar-coat a turd however you want to, but it still stinks and nobody with half a brain would want to eat it. If you want to keep extolling the virtues of verbal abuse, please address your pleas to the list in general. I am out of this discussion. It was crystal clear to me since about five days ago. I would like to engage my mind in the illusion of a meaningful discussion. ------------------------ Yahoo!
