"David McEwen" > Ok. Name one that doesn't come from the traditional zen
tradition.

Go read any Zen book and tell me which one puts limitations on how
enlightenment can be achieved. Read any modern Zen book that discusses other
religions or spiritual practices and show me one that does not recognize
that nearly every other religion has some understanding of Enlightenment and
seeks the path in a unique way.

If you want to believe that you should not enjoy movies or have fun during
sex, knock yourself out. If you want to say that I don't understand your
point, go ahead. I will never understand life in terms of "Lowered
Expectations" (Mad TV?). I think Zen is about seeing life through every
spectrum of light. It is about more, not less.

The road to enlightenment is different for every person. We are all
individuals. What works so well for you may not work for another person, and
vice versa. If you feel that your path is the one, then forge ahead. I hope
that any discussion can only further your growth in the direction that
benefits you the most.
