From: "David McEwen" <Saw Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy today. Maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10. In my opinion the old PBS series from years ago was better. So, some fun was experienced at the movie today, but not as much as I'd hoped for. ;-)> --
Most of the adaptations nowadays are CGI and FX intensive, and geared to pushing certain careers to mega-stardom. The "Old Hollywood System" has come back with a vengeance, and the plot, script, and substance of a story is way down on the list of things that are important in Hollywood. That is one reason I really enjoy some of those old movies so much! BTW, old is not necessarily good. Back when the Hollywood System originally existed, they made thousands of turkeys just to put famous actors on the screen. If you ever watch TCM or any of those channels that play old movies, there were certainly enough movies that were light on the story, plot, script, etc! The next blockbuster coming up is Star Wars: Revenge of The Sith; and no doubts it will be about 85% CGI. I am wondering how much difference there will be between that movie and the X-Box video game of the movie? At least in the video game the story is interactive. ------------------------ Yahoo!
