Brian,
The quick answer is no, but it sounds like a good idea to me too. The
steps that this installer would have to perform would be..
1. Install the Windows SNMP service. (If not already installed)
2. Configure the SNMP service with appropriate access controls.
3. Install the SNMP-Informant MIB extensions. (If not already installed)
4. Restart the SNMP service.
Number 2 is actually quite easy. You can simply export the
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP registry
folder on a system that you've configured properly and import it on
all other systems.
Someone who is comfortable making MSI packages could probably do all
of this rather easily.
I am interesting in doing something like this for Windows, OS X and
LInux/Unix. I might be able to contribute some code. What reference
material can I look to create a vebose snmpd.conf. This was going to
be a next question of mine to the list.
Btw, has anyone tried to supplement Zenoss with net-snmp? They just
recently added python bindings and support v3...
