Is it possible to do a yum install of the 2.9 version?  (It appears that you 
have a yum-based distribution)

   If you have to run configure and make to create things from source, then you 
might be much better off just using the VMWare image.   In general, moving from 
test to production is much, much nicer with a VMWare than producing your own 
RPM from a source distribution.
