ok....
I feel stupid but happy but it works now...
But all this could have been avoided with just a bit of documentation...
Here goes:
1) no need to install zope beforehand....
2) Install Mysql (you can get the rpms in the zenoss-deps package)...
3) DO NOT CHANGE the password like the mysql rpm install suggests!!
You can do that later becase by default the zenoss init scripts expect a
blank password for root user!
4) Install Zenoss RPM as root...
5) Now, you can either reboot or do:
/sbin/service zenoss start
Because of the presence of the file .fresh_install in /opt/zenoss, the script
will do some first-time setup and create the appropriate zeoctl and zopectl
scripts... And prepare the database if necessary....
And that's it!! it should be running...
Just need to point your browser to it!
