1. Zenoss doesn't use MIBs for anything but traps. Traps originate from the monitored system and are send in the event of an event occurring on the system that sends the trap. Typical events for a trap to be send would be: RAID failure, change of configuration, etc.
2. Dell OpenManage is only needed if one intends to get hardware level information. Such information would be fan speeds, RAID status, power supply status, etc. This type of information is always provided by a prop. agent (Dells is called OpenManage, HP/Compaq is called InsightManager). For anything else such as CPU, Memory and HDD there is no need for a hardware specific agent. Microsoft's Agent or SNMP Informant (better) will do much better here. 3. To find out about how to add a new OID for Zenoss to monitor I suggest one takes a look at existing templates and simply imitates them. Also don't forget to finally bind a template to a device/class. There is more information in the Zenoss Admin Guide. -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=11785#11785 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
