I have 5 maintenance windows set up right now (only a subset of all the rules in our production monitoring system). Of the 5, three are scheduled daily and they don't overlap. These work well enough, although all the devices they apply to are all Production right now. The only problem I have is my All Systems maintenance window. I created it on the /Systems root. This window recurs weekly. Week after week after week, any device affected by the window will have its production state stay at "Maintenance" even after the window is over. Every single week. I've deleted and recreated the window multiple times and the behavior is still the same.
I'm curious if I see the same behavior as you do, though. I'm going to set one of my devices to Maintenance and see what the production state is tomorrow morning after it goes through its daily window. I'll report back here. On the overlapping windows bit...yes, I could work around it. But I'd have to create so many weird and random incantations of the rules to make sure they don't conflict that it would indeed be a major pain. Plus, there is no good way to get a list of all the maintenance windows in Zenoss, so I'd either have to keep a list of them in a document somewhere or go hunting through every System organizer to find them all. That's not a solution. These problems with maintenance windows are a show-stopper for me. If I can't reliably set paging blackouts, then in my mind the system isn't working properly. Like I've said before, I'd love to recommend Zenoss to be our main monitoring system, but I can't do that until I see the issues surrounding Maintenance Windows (and maybe one or two others) resolved. I'd love to help fix these issues, but someone is going to have to tell me how to help, or what more information to give... Sorry for the long post, but after months of seeing the same issues with maintenance windows every single week, I'm getting a little crabby. :-) --seth -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=14071#14071 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
