I too have been having problems with Maint Windows (determined to still be a problem at 6am today). If I set a window, nothing about the production state changes, so we get alerts. There are a couple of places where you can set the production state manually, but I have run into errors and people end up just downing machines and dealing with the alerts since it's unfortunately easier.
I'm running 2.0.0 so I've been hoping this was fixed in newer versions. Is there a better release that I should be using?
