I had a similar problem when setting up maps for my locations. The google api wasn't recognizing my address, even though it came up in Google maps.
I started by setting the location of a device to my city (Vienna, VA). My devices started showing up so I started zooming in and finding the spelling of the street name in the google api. Turns out that google maps and the google api didn't match up on the spelling of my specific street name.
