The MIBs are used to translate SNMP traps into more readable form if you're receiving traps. You may want the MIBs in your prod machine for this purpose. Also, check out the graphical MIB browser ZenPack, it's handy for looking at MIBs: http://www.zenoss.com/community/projects/zenpacks/mib-browser
