data is not already in the file system cache and a
large read is made from disk should the file system
put this data into the cache?

BTW, I chose the term streaming to be a subset
of sequential where the access pattern is sequential but
at what appears to be artificial time intervals.
The suggested pre-read of the entire file would
be a simple sequential read done as quickly
as the hardware allows.
