Actually it was first introduced in the meridian of times by St. Thomas, and in
latter days by LDS missionaries, not military personnel. Most of the members are
in areas from where Silicon Valley workers have come, and then returned to (that
is, they were probably converted in California). If you look at the map of
branches in India
http://www.gatheringofisrael.com/atlas/asia/south_asia/IN_india.gif you'll see
that most are in the Bangalore and Hyderabad areas.
