Going back, I should have mentioned I was pointing at existing
releases. It would be rather rough if they kicked everybody out that
didn't produce and uploaded an 512x512 app icon in time for whatever
cutover is supposed to occur some time in the near future. Having said
that... the ensuing uproar would be quite amusing.

WTF indeed. So let's say an app is not intended for large screen
devices, and the manifest explicitly says so, yet devs have to go
through the exercise to produce a 512x512 icon regardless? Somehow
this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but hey, what do I know.
Unless, this is supposed to be used in the new app web presence, if
that's coming, but how could we know.
