John/Michael and everyone else. I've confirmed that there was something wrong with the astlinux-0.6.1-geni586.img.gz file. I got the same kernel panic on my test box. I've since pulled and replaced that file with one that I have verified to work properly.
If you have a working system there is no reason/need to download a new version of this file. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. I tested several of the other platforms (via, via-serial, net5501) and did not have a problem with those .img.gz files. Not 100% sure what went wrong with the geni586 image. It's fixed now though so enjoy. Darrick Michael wrote: > John, > > Thank you so much for the tip about doing runnix first. It's a bit of a moot point now, but I'm using this hardware: > http://www.enicomms.com/nagasaki/ > and a Lexar Premium 512MB CF card. > I grabbed 2 of the nagaskai's off eBay and 4 of the Lexar's a while > back and it has worked out well for my experimenting with AstLinux. > > Now... onto the configuration process. > > Thanks everyone! > > Michael > > > John Novack wrote: >> Several of us have had similar/identical problems with the geni586 img file. >> If you do the "two step" process, install runnix then the 0.6.1 geni586 tar >> file, all works well. >> Seems this is ONLY with the geni586 version, from what I have read, but >> since I only use that one I can't say for sure. >> No one smarter than I has had a chance to investigate what may be wrong. >> Perhaps the geni586 img file should be removed until the problem is solved?? >> >> John Novack >> >> >> Michael wrote: >> >> After the voip users conference call yesterday I was encouraged to update my >> system to 0.6.1.
