John/Michael and everyone else.  I've confirmed that there was something 
wrong with the astlinux-0.6.1-geni586.img.gz file.  I got the same 
kernel panic on my test box.  I've since pulled and replaced that file 
with one that I have verified to work properly.

If you have a working system there is no reason/need to download a new 
version of this file.

I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.  I tested several of 
the other platforms (via, via-serial, net5501) and did not have a 
problem with those .img.gz files.  Not 100% sure what went wrong with 
the geni586 image.  It's fixed now though so enjoy.
