Rick, There are about 10-15 programs etc loading at startup. You're sure all I need are the Grissoft (virus & spyware) things? If I uncheck things there will they stay there to recheck if I need them?

It sounds like a resource issue, and there may be too many processes running. Also, you should check the System Configuration Utility, (msconfig), and see how many programs are loading at startup. Ideally, you should only need your security software loading at startup, because allowing programs to load when they are not needed only uses resources unnecessarily. Additionally, there may be services loading at startup that are not needed.
