This is baffling.

Wasn't this thread originally about why American tourists tend to be treated
unusually in foreign countries?  (And is that really the case for the
majority of tourists in a majority of countries?)  Possible reasons have
been given.  Can none of these points be conceded?  Otherwise, it seems that
people outside the US must simply have a different point of view, or aren't
so well-informed about these issues.

No war criminals?  I have heard stories of the widespread use of the US use
of chemical weapons in Vietnam that continue to cause birth defects in the
civilian population.

They do not laugh at you for misspeaking French in Quebec.  They simply
listen to you struggle with the French language instead of letting you know
that they could probably understand you if you spoke English. ;)
