I think we might be starting to veer off-subject, but I'll throw in my 2 cents on complexifying CF: I don't have a problem with making CF more powerful at the cost of increased complexity, as long as the lower part of the CF learning curve doesn't become steeper as a result.  A newbie doesn't have to worry about static stuff - he or she can stick with cfobject or cfinvoke, or good ol-fashioned procedural code - but the developer who understands and could make good use of static methods will have support for them.  The lower/newbie part of the curve stays the same, while the middle part of the curve gets _very_ slightly steeper.
 
Okay, maybe that was only 1 cent.  :-)
