There is a debhelper feature that lets you put different copyright files into each binary package. I've used it in the past where a utils package had a different license to the library package. We certainly don't systematically do this, as there is simply no way to determine what file in the binary package is derived from what file(s) in the source package and what command produced them. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
