Gkrellm's maintenance is indeed a worry, but I haven't found anything even remotely competitive as a replacement in terms and quantity and quality of information it's able to show me in a small space (about my machine as well as about my servers). I usually have it show me the recent history of CPU use and disk use plus a few temps.
What do other people use instead?
