it's probably a REALLY BAD IDEA (tm) to ignore this hint. why? because the app probably doesn't HANDLE being resized - it wont redraw or recalculate its contents.. and it probably doesnt even listen to the configurenotify (resize) events.. thus it will basically lead to the window looking like crap. apps generally set their minimum and maximum window sizes for a good reason - the wm doesnt know the reason, but it obeys the hint.
I was under the impression that GTK, as an example, isn't laid out by pixel precisely so that it could be resized. It may not end up *looking* pretty, but when I need to resize a dialog to do anything useful with it, I don't care what it looks like, just that it is large enough to be useable.
