I had the opportunity to play around with an Elan 7 yesterday for the first
time too. The staff in the shop were too busy to give me much of a hand
with it, so I wasn't able to get any instruction on many of the features or
find out how the controls worked exactly. They didn't have a BP-300 on it
but I think even with this added, it impressed me as very small, especially
so if you put a larger lens on it.

I will say however that the body felt very good, and especially solid. The
AF was impressively quick even in low light and with the 28-80 lens that was
mounted. Just for the heck of it, I also looked at the Minolta 7 they had
and was surprised to see that it and the Elan 7 were pretty much identical
size.

Maybe I just need to get beyond having such a beefy camera in the EOS 3, but
I wish they would have built the Elan 7 with at least the same dimensions as
the Elan II.
