I wouldn't recommend using Perl scripts etc to parse Exchange Metrics logs.
Instead use something a little more supported and stable such as Microsoft Log Parser http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=890cd06b-abf8-4 c25-91b2-f8d975cf8c07&displaylang=en You can mix SQL code into your log parsing strings to format the data. This would be the best free method to get data from an Exchange Log. The tool also supports many other Log file formats and types. Enjoy.
